Either there was a posted prohibition against flying kites, or I mentioned doing _KAP_ to somebody and they informed me about that. I have not tried doing _KAP_ -- or even kite flying in general -- around horses, so I have no personal experience on it. In the intervening years at least one person online has informed me that it -- horses fearing airborne kites -- is not really an issue. Again, I have almost no experience around horses, so I do not know.

FWIW: Where I live in northeastern North Carolina {USA}, it is probably not quite as rural as where you live. However, we still encounter heavy farm equipment rolling down the road from time to time. Definitely NOT what I experienced growing up in St. Petersburg, Florida...😊

I've been using mattocks for as long as I remember. Both my grandfathers used them for digging in their gardens whenever the ground was too hard for a hoe. Here in Australia we mostly call them "mad ocks" but one of my lab assistants would call them "mat tocks".

Interesting. A nice for Sam's Garden. You have plenty of rain to help the willow to get established. Even though it is the rainy season here in Thailand we have had hardly any. It still doesn't deter the garden from resembling a jungle in a very short time though.

FWIW: Back when I was living in South Florida, USA -- from 1988 to 1995 -- I once went to a kind of fair in Homestead {which is south of Miami}. There were old engines and machines on display, including several _"Hit-and-Miss"_ engines. Some were running. I had NEVER seen or heard engines like that before.

I’m sure that you know because you are rail aficionado, but I will mention it for your viewers who have a mild interest. The taper on the wheels is a genius way to go around curves, as well as keeping the axle centred on the track. If the geometry is worked out properly, as the curved wheel gets pushed to the outside of a turn, the larger diameter part of the wheel starts to contact the rail. On the opposite end of the axle, the smaller diameter part of the wheel starts to contact the rail. This is how they engineer it so that a fixed axle will go around a corner. Otherwise, the axles would have to allow independent rotation of the wheels to negotiate a bend.
